1936		Jan. 7: Has to sign a form pledging allegiance to Adolf Hitler; March 8- May 9: "Pionier" military service in Stettin; Sends a postcards from Stettin about his training. Pionier-Komp. 5 Sept 18: An officer sends a letter to HB's boss inquiring about HB's criminal record; reply says no crimes committed; Nov. 13: Has to fill out a long questionnair about political work; Nov. 24: Someone sends a memo to the county office of the NSDAP asking for a confidential report about the political activities of the county employee HB, because he's a candidate for Beamten? Nov.: He joins Reichskolonialbund Dec. 9: The NS Arbeiter Partei replies and says HB isn't politically questionable: He helps with collections and sells the WHW placards. Sometime this year the house is searched again. Sometime this year the youth home closed
1937		Jan 1: He is "Sekretar" Jan 11: Reference letter in favor of HB for promotion to Beamte. Given notice of a 3-month trial period. Jan: He joins Verein f.d. Deutschtum im Auslande (VDA) Feb. 8: Physical: All ok except left lower lung May 7: Another questionnaire about membership in the NSDAP.
1938	Nov. 9: Kristallnacht	Died--Heinrich Buschmann, Nov. 10, 1938 of black lung disease; March 15: Another questionnaire: No to membership in NSDAP. He writes that he's a member of "Kraft durch Freude" through the NS labor org.

July 30: has to fill out a form about his political history (in German and English); says he wasn't a member of resistance groups or didn't have his freedom restricted by the Nazis (would have had to have 2 people sign the form to attest to the truth of the statement) Nov 4: SPD reformed in Marl, HB a part of first Unterbezirk leadership	They flee to Thuringen, B. catches pneumonia & dies.
